Today I have emailed out the second assignment in our child protection email course. We have been encouraged by the results of Assignment 1 with an average mark of 87% being attained by the students....though a few still have to submit due to sickness. We trust the course will be of great help and benefit to the 11 students from Kenya and Uganda who are studying.
Two weeks ago the meeting I was due to speak at was postponed until February because of snow. Last Monday, all set for another ladies' meeting, I received a call to tell me there was heavy rain and strong winds in the area and it was better if I didn't travel....so I will now return there in February also. The clothes collection went ahead as planned and we are awaiting a cheque for just under £155 (Ksh 20000). The market seemed quieter at the weekend and we thought we hadn't brought so much in. However, after rent was paid we still had £100 to transfer to Kenya today to meet some needs there. We thank God for His provision. Today I have been communicating with Pastor Aringo in Nairobi regarding the stock of lessons and as it decreases we are beginning to plan for the months ahead and have been making some enquiries today. Bibles are also a big need with quite a number of children at the stage of requiring them in order to continue with the course. I have communicated today with a very helpful lady in a Bible Book Shop in Nairobi and have secured 50 Bibles for collection by Pastor Aringo. Please pray that we will be enabled to purchase more. Joyce had a very successful visit to some centres in Uganda and was encouraged by the progress with the lessons and the interest shown. There is also a desire by those in Uganda to receive our child evangelism training so we will look at how we can fit this into our next visit. God willing we hope to travel to Kenya and also Uganda in a few months time and hope to begin making more definite plans for the programme within the next week or two. It is so exciting to be planning another trip! We were saddened this past week to hear of the passing of another supporter of the work of FML. This man, to our knowledge, was not a saved man, though he had heard the Gospel. We prayed for him along with others and appreciated the financial gifts which he regularly gave to the children. Another reminder of the importance of being ready for Heaven....gifts as good as they are, are not enough in themselves to give us eternal life...only salvation by faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks for your continued prayers. We haven't as yet brought you the update from Uganda, but hope to do that very soon.
Pray for all of our representatives in Kenya as they settle into the work again following the holidays. We continue to pray for the new markers to be accepted in Nakuru and to being to help in the work there. The second group to study on our email course where due to submit their first assignments this past week. Most of them did, but a few are yet to submit. Pray that the will. I enjoyed marking those which came in and was very encouraged by the work so far. It was another busy weekend at the market and we are thankful for many returning customers. The postponed clothes collection will now take place this coming Wednesday. We are able to accept clothes, bedding, bags, shoes etc. on an ongoing basis as well as household items, unwanted gifts etc. for the stall. We can also take furniture. Unfortunately we are no longer able to accept electrcial items due to a change in our insurance. The ladies' meeting planned for last Monday evening was postponed until February due a lot of snow in the area of the Church which was making it very difficult for people to get out and about. Tomorrow evening (Mon 28th) I am looking forward to speaking at a ladies' meeting in Limavady. We have many ideas and visions for the future of the work. Please pray that God will enable us to implement those which are of Him. Thank you for your ongoing prayers. It has been a difficult week for us as a family with the passing away of a very precious uncle....my dad's brother. We have many precious memories of a special man and can hardly believe he has gone. Thanks to those of you who have contacted us to express sympathy and assure us of your prayers. We are thinking especially of my cousins and their families in these difficult days.
As a mark of respect we closed the market stall this past weekend. We will reopen on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th as normal. Tonight I will speak at a ladies' meeting in Belfast. There has been some disruption around the city in recent weeks, so am trusting that I have no problems on my journey. We postponed a clothes collection last week as we were spending time at the hospital with my uncle and weren't available to be around for the collection. This should be fitted in within the next few weeks. We continue to appreciate your prayers for us as a family and also in the work in the days to come. Thank you for praying for us throughout another week.
We had another busy weekend at the market and we thank God for the funds which were brought in. Please continue to pray that the Lord will provide in this way throughout the coming months. January tends to be a quieter month, but we thank God for how well things have gone over the past two weeks. Sales of firewood and coal etc. make a lot of work for William and we pray that he will continue to know help in this very practical; yet very vital; side of the ministry Please remember our team of workers in Kenya as they get into full swing again distributing, collecting and marking lessons. Pray also for Joyce in Uganda. She was due to visit a Church yesterday (Sunday) where the children are studying our lessons. We hope we will be able to update you on this visit next week. We are trusting that we will be able to visit Uganda on our next trip to Africa and are very excited at the prospect of seeing the ministry operating in an area we personally have never been to before. I am looking forward to sharing in a few meetings over the coming weeks and ask for your prayers that hearts will be burdened for the work we are doing. We always welcome new opportunities to share and of course, to return to Churches etc. where we have previously been to. On Wednesday we will be having another clothes collection and know that the funds raised from this will be of great benefit in our work. If you are in Northern Ireland you can help in this way be donating clothes, bedding, curtains, handbags, shoes etc. which you no longer need. Please feel free to email me [email protected] if you need more information. Continue to pray for the second group of students to begin our email course. We are encouraged by the answers received so far. Remaining assignments are due for submission next week, so please pray for each student to get their work in on time. Please also continue to pray for the need for Bibles and that God will provide. We need God's provision in every way. His guidance and wisdom are even more important needs that finances. Please continue to pray that He will meet these needs and help us to deal with every situation we encounter. God Bless you all. Six years ago today, by the date; this website was launched. Over the years we have posted many updates, photos and news of the work. It has been the place where many announcements have been made and encouragements shared. We have added to it over the years and the appearance has changed a few times but we thank God for the doors it has opened. This website has reached into many countries across the world and connected us with so many people. If you click on the flag box at the bottom of the home page you will see the many different places which have been represented by visitors to this site. Today we say a very big thank you to each and every one of you who have shown an interest and made the work involved with the site worthwhile.
Our offices in UK and Kenya will open again this week and we are looking forward to all that God has planned for us. There is always plenty to do. As we enter a New Year, the need for Bibles is ever before our eyes and we ask you to continue to pray for this. We are trusting that we will be able to travel to Kenya and also Uganda later in the year and think we have found flights which may be suitable....please pray for this. The second batch of students to enrol on our email child protection course will begin studying this week. Pray for them. We send our congratulations to those who have successfully completed our first course and received the certificates. The top achievers (and their overall marks) were: Sammy Njoroge Nganga from Nairobi with 93% Charity Wamuyu Muriuki from Nakuru with 93% Rosalia Achieng Oyweka from Kisumu with 82% Rev Alois Were Anyango from Kibera, Nairobi with 80% We are so proud of each student who worked hard to complete their assignments and pray that the next group will also benefit. It has been great to hear how students have been encouraged with the course also...even one girl said how she intended to use her certificate to try and gain a job. We pray that she will be sucessful. As you will see even from the names above, the students are spread across the country of Kenya. On our first course we also had students from Tanzania and one from Myanmar. We are delighted that Uganda is represented on our second course. We pray that all will be blessed. Tomorrow I am looking forward to visiting ASDA in my home town to receive the cheque for £200.00 for Feed My Lambs. Customers have been voting for 3 charities/good causes throughout the month of December and we are delighted that we received the highest number of votes. The other two groups will receive £50.00 each. Thank you to everyone who voted. We have a number of meetings over the coming weeks, but would also like more. Please consider having us share in your Church or fellowship. May the Lord continue to bless you all. And so another year is coming to an end. It has been a year of mixed emotions for us. Friend and family have gone to be with the Lord and sickness remains amongst those we love....but we have also been blessed beyond measure personally and in the work. God has provided for so many needs and we give Him the glory.
2012 saw the work of Feed My Lambs spread into Uganda. We thank God for this. It was a year when many children received their very own Bible. It was a year when we had many opportunities to share our ministry. Highlights include the missionary weekend in the Iron Hall in Belfast and the awareness day which was held in a local supermarket just before Christmas...we thank God for everyone who received literature on that occasion and for the funds which were collected. Another highlight of the year was the children's workers conference which some members of our team attended in November. We know that this was a real encouragement to them. We thank God each day for each one of our team...our representatives, those who assist in the office, those who mark lessons....thank you all for your hard work. We are looking forward to a new year with great excitment and anticipation. We are discussing, planning and praying about our next trip and are trusting God to provide for this very soon. We are looking ahead long term and seeking wisdom from the Lord for the way ahead and how the work should progress and grow. Thank you so much for standing with us in prayer. We still need you. May the Lord bless you for your faithfulness and may I wish you a very Blessed New Year from all in Feed My Lambs in UK, Kenya and Uganda. Thank you so much for your prayers over this past year. A very Happy Christmas to you and your family.
This week we are looking forward to holding an Awareness Day in a new ASDA supermarket which has opened in Portadown, N.Ireland. Dad, William and I will be there from 9 in the morning until 6 in the evening this Wednesday 19th December. We will be distributing literature, selling items and doing a collection. We feel it is a great opportunity and we are looking forward to it. If you are in the area, please come in and see us, otherwise you can pray that it is a beneficial time.
The market was busy again this past weekend and we look forward to another weekend before the Christmas break. The market will be open for an additional day on Christmas Eve. Thank you for your prayers for the recent Bible presentations. Last week, we shared a few photos from the rally in Nakuru. This week we hope you will like the photos from the recent presentation in a Church in Kibera, Nairobi. We thank God for each little life which received a Bible from Feed My Lambs over the past week. We also give thanks for a few donations which have come in this week towards the cost of purchasing more. We are grateful to each one who has contributed. Please enjoy the few photos below of the children receiving Bibles and enjoying the Nakuru rally. These past few days have been very exciting.
Around 400 children gathered in Nakuru on Saturday for a Feed My Lambs Children's Rally. There was Bible teaching, revision of lessons and games. Juice, biscuits and sweets were also enjoyed. It was a great opportunity for the children of the area who have taken our lessons to come together. Unfortunately a few centres were unable to attend because of a problem with public transport but the turnout was still very encouraging. Best of all around 130 children received Bibles and we thank God for this. We thank God for His help and blessing to Moses and his team who organised the event and we look forward to sharing more news and photos with you soon. Around 30 children also received Bibles in a Kibera Church yesterday and we God thanks for this also. Pastor Aringo has done an assessment of the work and estimates that we will need around 2500 Bibles between now and April to keep things up to date. Please pray for this. Here in Northern Ireland, a local supermarket has selected Feed My Lambs as one of 3 chosen charities for the month of December. Customers have the opportunity to vote for their "favourite" cause. Just being selected guarantees some funds from the company. We will also be holding an awareness day for FML in the supermarket on Wednesday 19th December and we will be distributing literature etc. at a stand there from 9am - 6pm. The market stall was busy at the weekend once more and we look forward to extra opening this Wednesday evening 5th December from 6pm - 9pm. I also thank God for His help as I shared at a meeting yesterday afternoon. We thank God for faithful praying people. We give God all of the glory for these opportunities and thank you for your prayers. |
